Hickory smoked Chicken Half on MAK 2 Star

Rubbed under/on the skin of a fresh Foster Farms half Chicken with Roasted Garlic EVOO and Lawry’s Perfect Blend Chicken & Poultry Rub.  I found this rub at Sam’s Club a few months ago and have since searched for more every time we go Sam’s to no avail.  Of the 46 reviews on Amazon, 39 gave it 5 stars and 2 gave it 4 stars.  Unfortunately it’s not available on Amazon right now either.  When I find it again I’m going to make sure to buy a couple to have on hand.

Preheated my MAK 2 Star Wood Pellet BBQ Smoker-Grill to Smoke (180º-200ºF) with Pacific Pellet Gourmet Hickory BBQ Pellets.  Smoked with Hickory for 1 hour before bumping the MAK 2 Star pit temperature to 350ºF and roasted the Chicken until the Internal Temperature of the breast at the thickest part reached 170ºF.  I like to use a Frogmats to keep the Chicken from sticking to the grill.  Rested the Chicken under a foil tent for 15 minutes before serving.

   

Who says it never rains in California?  Here in Northern California we’ll take all the rain and snow in the Sierras we can get!  Fortunately I have a nice covered patio that has been taken over by my toys smokers.  Great day for a little comfort food … chicken, mash potatoes, gravy, and green beans.

    i discovered the Lawrys Chicken and Poultry Rub at Costcos recently. Hopefully you are able to find it also!
