Cherry Smoked Chicken Leg Quarters

Nothing like having your neighbor bring home fresh Foster Farms Chicken Leg Quarters from the plant and sharing!!  Decided to do them proud by using the MAK 2 Star General Wood Pellet Smoker-Grill with Cherry wood BBQ pellets.

Pulled the skin back and rubbed them On/Under the skin with Annie’s Roasted Garlic EVOO and Montreal Chicken Seasoning.   Seasoning under the skin makes for some great tasting Chicken.  Left the rubbed and seasoned Leg Quarters to rest in the fridge for 2 hours.  Preheated the MAK 2 Star to 225ºF using Cherry wood BBQ pellets.  Smoked the Chicken Leg Quarters for an hour before bumping the pit temperature to 325ºF.

Threw in some garlic to roast when I bumped the MAK 2 Star temperature to 325ºF.  Took a total of 2 hours for the Internal Temperature of the Chicken Leg Quarters to reach 180ºF.  Rested the Cherry Smoked Chicken Leg Quarters for 15 minutes under a tent foil before serving.

The Money $Shot$ … A Cherry Smoked Chicken Leg Quarter and Roasted Garlic served with some homemade Spanish Rice and fresh simmered Pinto Beans …  Bon Appétit  …  Cherry, Apple, Pecan, and/or Hickory are some of my favorite woods to use for poultry.
