Hi, I am new to pellet grilling. I have read great reviews on the mak 2. I am considering buying a 2 year old mak but have no idea what would be a good price to pay. The seller is asking 1,400 dollars. Could you comment ?

A MAK 2 Star costs $2,400 new so depending on the condition $1,400 would be a good price. I would find out the serial # of the unit and contact Bob Tucker, the owner of MAK and a great person, and ask him about that serial # unit. There a been some updates to the Award winning Pellet Boss Digital Controller as well as some hardware. I’m looking into upgrading my MAK 2 Star to incorporate the hardware changes and it’s my understanding that if a unit can be upgraded MAK will only charge the price of the parts (about $300 plus shipping & handling, unless you deliver it to Oregon).
