As you can see the gobbler turned out golden brown and if I may say so myself it was smoked\/cooked to perfection. If you've never had smoked turkey then you don't know what you're missing. Best of all, it's extremely simple and wood pellet smoker-grills will provide you with fantastic results!<\/p>\n<p>Not a big fan of allowing the drippings to cake on the bottom of the grill so we used what I call a \"V\" rack inside a foil turkey pan. If desired I can use the drippings for making gravy the old fashioned way rather than using a turkey gravy mix. Either way, it's all good - gravy for the smashed taters, stuffing, and smoked turkey.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-8768-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div under and on the skin<\/li>\n<li>Carefully wrap the seasoned turkey in plastic and refrigerate overnight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Preheat your wood pellet smoker-grill to 225\u00baF using <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Hickory<\/a> wood pellets\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Remove the turkey from the fridge while grill is preheating<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Smoke the fresh turkey for 2 hours at 225\u00baF<\/li>\n<li>After 2 hours, bump the pit temperature to 335\u00baF<\/li>\n<li>Pull the smoked turkey when the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">internal temperature<\/a> at the thickest part of the breast reaches 170\u00baF<\/li>\n<li>Rest the turkey loosely under a foil tent for 15 minutes before carving<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For planning purposes only<\/span>: The 17 pound turkey took approximately 6 hours from start to finish (preheat, smoke, roast, rest) to reach 170\u00baF<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-8768-4\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-8768-4-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-8768-4-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child
