The grill area size is perfect for 2 people and\/or small cooks. For dinner I decided to have a Smoked <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1FsVkGw\" target=\"_blank\">GMG<\/a> Tri-Tip Roast and boy did it ever turn out scrumptious, moist, and tender!<\/p>\n<p>Found a great looking Choice\/Prime Tri-Tip roast with marbling to die for at a\u00a0local butcher shop in Columbia Falls, MT. I asked the\u00a0butcher what grade the roast was and he\u00a0informed me that the free range grass fed Angus beef was officially graded as choice but with it's marbling could easily be prime. But I, for one, like my Tri-Tip roasts peeled. I remember the first time I saw \"peeled\" on the label. Didn't know what to make of it. A \"peeled\" Tri-Tip roast is one where the fat cap has been removed by the butcher.<\/p>\n<p>Notice the beautiful marbling on the roast once the small fat cap has been trimmed away. I rubbed the roast with roasted garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">extra virgin olive oil<\/a> and seasoned it with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Dry Rub Recipes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/dry-rub-recipes\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Pete's Western Rub<\/a>. As soon as I bumped the pit temperature to 350\u00baF a weather front moved in with thunder and lightning accompanied with sleet!! I was concerned but the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"GMG Davy Crockett Grill\/Smoker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/gmg-2018-green-mountain-grill-davy-crockett-grill-smoker-with-cover-new-design\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Davy Crockett<\/a> weathered the storm beautifully. I did cover the pellet hopper and controller with a towel. During the passing weather front the WiFi module really came in handy allowing me to monitor the<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1B8XtCt\" target=\"_blank\"> internal temperature<\/a> and keep an eye on the pit temp.<\/p>\n<p>Pulled the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">hickory<\/a> smoked tri-tip roast when the<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/1B8XtCt\" target=\"_blank\"> internal temperature<\/a> reached 145\u00baF. Rested the roast under a foil tent for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain. Overall time (preheat, smoke, cook &amp; rest) for planning purposes was 2 hours.
