Tri-Tip Roast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After weeks of rain and strong winds I took advantage of the brief reprieve to do some Teriyaki Jerky in the OBS and a smoked Tri-Tip on the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Picked up 10 lbs of \u00bc&#8221; sliced, against the grain, Top Sirloin marinated with Teriyaki from my Butcher and refrigerated it overnight<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/jerky1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Used 4 racks with Frog Mats along with 4 inverted Bradley Jerky racks<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/jerky2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Into the OBS at 140\u00ba for an hour with NO smoke.\u00a0 Bumped to 150\u00ba for 1.6 hours with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Hickory<\/a> Smoke (5 bisquettes).\u00a0 Bumped to 175\u00ba till done.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/jerky3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the Jerky was smoking\/dehydrating I fired up the MAK to smoke a Tri-Tip which I chose not to do the day before cause the winds were gusting to 40 mph.\u00a0 Since wind is not my friend, I didn&#8217;t want to anger the smoking gods &#8230; Here&#8217;s a shot of the Jerky smokin in the OBS and the Tri-Tip smokin in the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/jerky4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Used some Roasted Garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> on the Tri-Tip for glue and rubbed with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Fagundes Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/fagundes-seasoning\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Fagundes Seasoning<\/a>.\u00a0 Wrapped in plastic wrap and into the fridge overnight.\u00a0 But due to the wind it stayed in the fridge for 2 nights.\u00a0 No harm &#8230; no foul.\u00a0 Seared the Tri-Tip on the 465\u00ba MAK grill for 5 minutes and then set the temp to 225\u00ba.\u00a0 Pulled the Tri-Tip when the IT reached 145\u00ba and FTC for 20 minutes.\u00a0 Used my handy dandy new slicer for the money $shot\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While I was slicing my Grandchildren swung by and I offered half the Tri-Tip for their dinner which my Daughter-in-law eagerly accepted.\u00a0 The oldest Granddaughter loves my smoked products and I readily fed her some samples.\u00a0 But the youngest Granddaughter would not try it until she watched her sister devourer sample after sample.\u00a0 Finally she said &#8230; &#8220;Papa, can I try some?&#8221;.\u00a0 Well, that was the beginning of the end for that Tri-Tip.\u00a0 She couldn&#8217;t get enough!!\u00a0 Brought a tear to my eye to see them enjoying it so much.\u00a0 They took their portion of the Tri-Tip home and there&#8217;s a few slices left for a sandwich for the wife and I\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/> That&#8217;s what smoking meat is all about for me.\u00a0 Watching them and friends enjoying it so much makes it all worth while<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/tip4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First set of racks were put in the OBS @ 10:20 AM and the last pieces of Jerky came out of the OBS @ 9:50 PM &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Beef\/BeefJerky03252011\/jerky5.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Have placed an 80L Cabela&#8217;s Commercial Food Dehydrator on my wish list.\u00a0 Maybe for my Birthday or Christmas\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After weeks of rain and strong winds I took advantage of the brief reprieve to do some Teriyaki Jerky in the OBS and a smoked Tri-Tip on the MAK 2 Star.
