Bradley Smoker &#038; Char-broil SRG combo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wanted to baptize my SRG and what better way than doing a 9 lb bone-in turkey breast.\u00a0 The Bradley \/ SRG combo turned out to be a killer for the breast!!\u00a0 It turned out so moist and the flavor was to die for.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever had such tender turkey.\u00a0 SWMBO started grazing on the breast and barely had any room left for the rest of the trimmings.<\/p>\n<p>I have read where people smoke a turkey and\/or a chicken and then finish them off in the SRG, MAK, Traeger, etc. but have not seen any photos of someone using the SRG basket in the OBS and then transferring said basket directly into the SRG.\u00a0 So I figured &#8230; why not!?<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot of the 9 lb turkey breast fitted into the SRG basket ready for the OBS.\u00a0 Used some Roasted Garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and Jans Dry Rub.\u00a0 Since it was a little brisk by California standards (55\u00baF) I decided that the Chef needed a little rub for the old innards &#8230; hence the Jim Beam Black\u00a0\u00a0 Note how I used 2 half SRG racks to keep the breast upright.\u00a0 I also used my new Maverick ET-732 cause I figured that it should be able to withstand the higher temps of the SRG.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the SRG basket with the turkey breast sitting on the bottom rack in the OBS.\u00a0 I doubled the racks and used 2 frog mats to help balance the basket.\u00a0 Note that there&#8217;s actually plenty of room for the SRG basket in the OBS.\u00a0 Set my PID to 250\u00ba and applied 3 hours of Special Blend smoke.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the breast after 3 hours of special blend smoke ready for the SRG.\u00a0 No fuss no muss since it&#8217;s already in the basket.\u00a0 After 3 hours of smoke at 250\u00ba the breast IT was 135\u00baF.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG3.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the breast roasting away, here&#8217;s a shot of my setup under my covered patio.\u00a0 I was able to just set my ET-732 right on the table and monitor the temp.\u00a0 The ET-732 worked great in the SRG.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG4.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/OBSturkeySRG01032011\/OBSturkeySRG4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the finished product.\u00a0 It only took me an hour in the SRG to get from an IT of 135\u00ba to 165\u00ba.\u00a0 Total time was 4 hours for the 9 lb bone-in turkey breast.\u00a0 The last time I smoked a bone-in breast just in the OBS it took me 5 hours.\u00a0 Maybe it&#8217;s just me but this is the best tasting turkey breast I have produced to date &#8230;
