{"id":410,"date":"2011-02-11T21:00:24","date_gmt":"2011-02-12T05:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/?p=410"},"modified":"2011-02-11T21:00:24","modified_gmt":"2011-02-12T05:00:24","slug":"faux-rice-and-srg-bone-in-turkey-breast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/faux-rice-and-srg-bone-in-turkey-breast\/","title":{"rendered":"Faux Rice and SRG Bone-in Turkey Breast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In staying with our low carb lifestyle, I decided to pop a bone-in turkey breast in the SRG and serve it with some Faux Rice and Cole Slaw.\u00a0 Rubbed the breast with some <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Fagundes Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/fagundes-seasoning\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Fagundes Seasoning<\/a> and mounted the breast on a vertical turkey roaster.\u00a0 Although I defrosted the breast in the fridge for 4 days it still had some ice chunks in the cavity.\u00a0 When I inserted the meat probe it read &#8220;LLL&#8221; on my ET-732 (means it was below 32\u00ba).<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Turkey\/SRGturkeyBreast02112011\/SRGturkey1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not sure why but the basket had issues when I lowered it into the SRG.\u00a0 It was almost like the basket got bigger or the cooking chamber shrunk &#8230; Course I know neither one is true <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/undecided.gif\" alt=\"Undecided\" border=\"0\" \/> it&#8217;s just that the basket legs were scraping the sides when I lower it.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the breast after 2 hours.\u00a0 SRG was on HIGH and the LID was OPEN.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Turkey\/SRGturkeyBreast02112011\/SRGturkey2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pulled the breast after the IT reached 167\u00ba.\u00a0 Took 2 hours.\u00a0 Covered with foil and allowed it to rest for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Turkey\/SRGturkeyBreast02112011\/SRGturkey3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The money $$hot.\u00a0 Few slices of turkey breast served with a side of Faux Rice and Cole Slaw.\u00a0 This was the 1st time I roasted a turkey breast completely in the SRG.\u00a0 Have always smoked it in the Bradley Smoker for 2 hours and then finished the breast in the SRG.\u00a0 SWMBO and I were extremely pleased with the moisture and flavor.\u00a0 Like everyone says &#8230; it&#8217;s a poultry cooking machine <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Turkey\/SRGturkeyBreast02112011\/SRGturkey4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>OK, many are probably wondering what &#8220;Faux Rice&#8221; is.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll save you a Google search.\u00a0 Here is one of many recipes for it.<\/p>\n<p>FAUX RICE<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Turkey\/SRGturkeyBreast02112011\/faux_rice.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>20 ounces fresh cauliflower, 1 medium<br \/>\nButter<br \/>\nSalt and pepper<\/p>\n<p>Trim the leaves and most of the tough stalks of the cauliflower, then coarsely chop into manageable pieces that will fit the feed tube of your food processor. Using the grating disk, process the cauliflower; put in a 2 1\/2 quart casserole with a lid. Add 2-4 tablespoons of water, cover and microwave on HIGH 8-14 minutes. Stir every 4-5 minutes and check for doneness. When tender, but not mushy, add some butter; season with salt and pepper to taste.<\/p>\n<p>Makes 6-10 servings<br \/>\nFreezing not recommended<\/p>\n<p>Per 1\/6 recipe: 58 Calories; 4g Fat; 2g Protein;
