and then some<\/p>\n<p>Rubbed some Roasted Garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and some of my local butcher&#8217;s seasoning, <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Fagundes Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/fagundes-seasoning\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Fagundes<\/a> Meats, inside the chicken cavity, on the skin, and on the meat under the skin.\u00a0 When using the SRG you need to use rubs\/seasonings\/marinades\/brines that are low in sugar.<\/p>\n<p>Using my new Green Egg Vertical Chicken Roaster sitting inside a circular non-stick pan to catch the grease\/drippings and to facilitate cleanup.\u00a0 Rubbed the potatoes with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and the same seasoning I used on the chicken.\u00a0 Rubbing the potatoes with just some Kosher salt works really good too.\u00a0 Using the ET-732 meat and temp probes.\u00a0 SRG on high, ambient temp @ 53\u00baF, and chicken IT was 43\u00baF.\u00a0 Used some \u00bd rack Char-Broil accessories for the taters.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After seeing photos of all that snow everywhere I decided to show what the Central Valley of California looked like today.\u00a0 All in all, not too bad a day\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/rolleyes.gif\" alt=\"Roll Eyes\" border=\"0\" \/> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/wink.gif\" alt=\"Wink\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chicken and taters being lowered into the SRG.\u00a0 Notice the Maverick ET-732 temp\/food probes to be used to monitor the IT and chamber temp.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I always smoke and roast to Internal Temperatures and not time.\u00a0 Depending on what you are using a large factor concerning the chamber temperatures is the ambient temperature and conditions.\u00a0 Wind is your worst enemy.\u00a0 Time is used as an estimate for planning purposes but always be flexible.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t take shortcuts &#8230; It&#8217;s not worth it and it&#8217;ll come back to bite you.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Took 2 hours to reach an IT of 165\u00baF and the spuds were done to perfection.\u00a0 Boy did that bird smell good!!<\/p>\n<p>I am finding that an IT of 165\u00baF works better for me then the 160\u00baF that is commonly recommended.\u00a0 The white meat is perfect at 160 but I have found over time that the legs\/thighs don&#8217;t always reach the recommended 180\u00baF IT.\u00a0 So now I prefer to smoke\/roast\/grill chicken\/turkey to 165.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird5.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a shot of all the grease\/drippings that I collected.\u00a0 The SRG did not require any cleaning.\u00a0 Need to research to see if all that fat dripping into the chamber does anything special for the bird during roasting?\u00a0 Course, if you choose, the drippings make for an excellent gravy!!<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird6.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The chicken came out extremely moist.\u00a0 Applying seasoning\/rub under the skin is a must in my book.\u00a0 Turned out great and the skin was to die for.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t eat much skin anymore these days but it was so good that I couldn&#8217;t help myself.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird7.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The money $$hot &#8230; A little steamed broccoli along with the SRG roasted spud for side dishes.\u00a0 Even though I shouldn&#8217;t, I had to eat some of that crispy skin and man-o-man was it ever good.\u00a0 I know it&#8217;s been said many times over but this is by far some of the best if not the best chicken I have tasted.\u00a0 The SRG is worth the investment\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/> <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/SRG\/SRGroasted01122011\/SRGbird8.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is a Yard Bird roasted in the SRG as good as everyone says it is?\u00a0 Why YES it is &#8230;
