Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a little 12 lb gobbler I said I would smoke today so that the DW can take the turkey breasts to her sewing club luncheon tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Rubbed the bird with Carolina Treet (CT) and Jans Dry Rub (JDR).\u00a0 Wanted to see what the combo of CT and JDR would do to a turkey.\u00a0 Preheated to 275\u00baF and kept it there on my PID cause I figured I would never get back to 250\u00baF but wanted to get as high as possible.\u00a0 OBS only got to 240\u00baF so I put the bird in and the smoking chamber dropped to 177\u00baF before it started a slow upward swing in an attempt to recover.\u00a0 [waiting for parts so my Son and I can can modify my OBS for a second element].<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/12lbTurkey11212010\/12lbOBSOven1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Started @ 9:30am with an IT of 40\u00ba<br \/>\n10:30am temp @ 195\u00ba and IT @ 72\u00ba<br \/>\n11:30am temp @ 215\u00ba and IT @ 112\u00ba<br \/>\n12:30pm temp @ 239\u00ba and IT @ 122\u00ba &#8230; after 3 hours of smoke (2) <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">hickory<\/a> to (1) <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">apple<\/a> I pulled the bird from the smoker to transfer to the oven<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/12lbTurkey11212010\/12lbOBSOven2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Placed in 350\u00baF oven and pulled when breast hit 163\u00baF \/ spent 2 hours and 10 minutes in oven<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/12lbTurkey11212010\/12lbOBSOven3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Divided up the gobbler.\u00a0 Breast for tomorrow&#8217;s luncheon and some of the rest for dinner tonight\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/grin.gif\" alt=\"Grin\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/12lbTurkey11212010\/12lbOBSOven4.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The money $$hot\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forum.bradleysmoker.com\/Smileys\/default\/wink.gif\" alt=\"Wink\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/12lbTurkey11212010\/12lbOBSOven5.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not sure if this help or not but I learned a few things today so it&#8217;s all good!!\u00a0 CT and JDR with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">hickory<\/a> on turkey are a good choice.\u00a0 Onwards to the next smoke<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a little 12 lb gobbler I said I would smoke today so that the DW can take the turkey breasts to her sewing club luncheon tomorrow.
