Just realized that it's been about a year since I smoked a 7 pound Bone-In Turkey Breast. Got this one around Christmas from my local grocery store. They had a special on frozen Turkey Breasts - Buy One Get One (BOGO) free. Around the holidays, most grocery stores will have similar BOGO deals which really help in these times of growing inflation. This allows us to have turkey more than just around the holidays. There are so many things to do with turkey leftovers ... Graze on the sides with turkey, turkey noodle soup, turkey tetrazzini, turkey a la king, and more ...<\/p>\n<p>By planning ahead, you can safely defrost the turkey breast in the refrigerator. It only takes a couple of days. I rubbed roasted garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-shortcode=\"true\">extra virgin olive oil<\/a>\u00a0on and under the skin and seasoned on and under the skin using a combination of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39DVmzr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pete's Western Rub<\/a>\u00a0and McCormick Grill Mates\u00a0<a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"McCormick Montreal Chicken Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mccormick-montreal-chicken-seasoning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Montreal Chicken Seasoning<\/a>. The Green Mountain Grills WiFi Controlled\u00a0<a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"GMG Davy Crockett Grill\/Smoker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/gmg-2018-green-mountain-grill-davy-crockett-grill-smoker-with-cover-new-design\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-linkid=\"11175\" data-nojs=\"false\">Davy Crockett<\/a> Portable Wood Pellet Grill was easy and quick to reassemble. But when I checked the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a> I learned that it needed a thorough cleaning which took more time than I had planned. Therefore, instead of smoking the turkey breast for 2 hours at 180\u00b0F and then finishing the turkey at 235\u00b0F I had to change the method I used which is detailed below. Not to worry cause it's all good and there are so many ways to cook an item with wonderful results.<\/p>\n<p>Preheated my <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a> wood pellet smoker grill to 225\u00baF using <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3dUxrPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CookinPellets.com Premium Perfect Mix wood pellets<\/a>. Smoked the bone-in turkey breast at 225\u00baF for one hour before bumping the pit temperature to 350\u00baF. Finished cooking the bone-in turkey breast for approximately another 2 hours until the <a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">internal temperature<\/a> at the thickest part of the breast reached 170\u00baF. Rested the turkey breast under a loose foil tent for 20 minutes before carving against the grain. The bone-in and the skin of the breast helps greatly in keeping the breast moist.
