But in reality, the only difference is the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">internal temperature<\/a> of the pork butt that's being smoked\/cooked. When I prep a pork butt I use the same method and season it the same. Makes no difference. Here's a smoked Pork Butt Roast while on the road in our RV using my Green Mountain Grills <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"GMG Davy Crockett Grill\/Smoker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/gmg-2018-green-mountain-grill-davy-crockett-grill-smoker-with-cover-new-design\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Davy Crockett<\/a> wood pellet grill. It's perfect for 2 people whether you're on the road or at home. Note that I now prefer to use a foil pan with a small screen under it to help in keeping the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"GMG Davy Crockett Grill\/Smoker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/gmg-2018-green-mountain-grill-davy-crockett-grill-smoker-with-cover-new-design\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Davy Crockett<\/a> clean. Let's face it, the bark is where most of the flavor profiles exist.\n<ul>\n<li>Rub the pork butt with roasted garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">extra virgin olive oil<\/a> and liberally season the pork butt with your favorite pork seasoning. Two of my favorites are <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39DVmzr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jan's Original Dry Rub<\/a> and my <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39DVmzr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pork Dry Rub<\/a> which can be found on pages 168 and 169 of my cookbook, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39DVmzr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wood Pellet Smoker &amp; Grill Cookbook<\/a>. To date, over 45,000 copies of my cookbook has been sold.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap the seasoned pork butt in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Preheat your wood pellet smoker grill to 225\u00baF using <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3dUxrPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CookinPellets.com Premium Perfect Mix<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li>Smoke your pork butt for 2 hours before bumping your pit temperature to 350\u00baF.<\/li>\n<li>Once your pork butt <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">internal temperature<\/a> reaches 160\u00baF remove from the grill and double wrap the pork butt with heavy duty foil leaving your meat probe in place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Return the foil wrapped pork butt to your pellet grill and cook until the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">internal temperature<\/a> reaches 187\u00baF. Rest the pork roast loosely under a foil tent for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain and serving. This cooking method is used to quickly overcome the \"Stall\" and is commonly known as the \"Texas Crutch\".<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next time you want a pork roast for dinner think about smoking a pork butt and using the method above rather than cooking a pork loin or pork tenderloin.
