It&#8217;s a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pork Tri-Tip<\/span> and not a Beef Tri-Tip.\u00a0 I know you&#8217;re skeptical but then so was I when I first noticed this 1\u00be lb Pork Shoulder Tri-Tip Boneless Roast.\u00a0 At least that&#8217;s what SaveMart stores located mostly in Central\/Northern California call this roast.\u00a0 I never would have looked and found this Pork Tri-Tip if Beef Tri-Tip wasn&#8217;t priced at $7 \/lb !!\u00a0 Insane &#8230; Beef Tri-Tip right now is the same price as a NY Steak.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not like I&#8217;m back East where most have never heard of a Tri-Tip.\u00a0 This is Central California &#8230; The birthplace of Tri-Tips.<\/p>\n<p>Spoke with the meat department and yes, it&#8217;s a cut that has been around for quite a while.\u00a0 I was thinking they might be capitalizing on the &#8220;Tri-Tip&#8221; name until I did a google search.\u00a0 At $2.99\/lb vs $6.99\/lb it was worth a try and I learned something new.\u00a0 It is rather lean compared to a shoulder and many say it&#8217;s pretty much tasteless but then they probably haven&#8217;t smoked one low-and-slow.<\/p>\n<p>Rubbed the Pork Tri-Tip Sirloin Roast with Annie&#8217;s Roasted Garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Fagundes Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/fagundes-seasoning\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Fagundes Seasoning<\/a>.\u00a0 Normally I might have thrown it into the fridge overnight but I had to fix something for dinner and didn&#8217;t have that luxury.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Preheated the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a> General Wood Pellet BBQ Smoker-Grill to 250\u00baF with <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Premium 100% Hickory\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/premium-100-hickory\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Hickory<\/a> wood BBQ pellets.\u00a0 Note how this cut has a pronounced resemblance to a Beef Tri-Tip and is exceptionally lean compared to a Pork Shoulder (Butt).\u00a0 Kept the temperature at 250\u00baF for the entire cook since I had no idea how this Pork Tri-Tip was going to behave.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The more I use my <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a> General the more I am impressed with this wood pellet smoker-grill.\u00a0 Not only does it produce a copious amount of smoke when using the SMOKE setting (180\u00ba) but it also produces a lavish amount of smoke at the 225\u00ba &#8211; 250\u00baF range and as usual, it didn&#8217;t disappoint me.\u00a0 Took 3 hours at 250\u00baF to reach an <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Internal Temperature<\/a> of 160\u00baF.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip3.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the Pork Tri-Tip Sirloin Roast was resting under a foil tent for 20 minutes I boiled some Corn on the Cob on the Camp Chef 3 Burner Stove.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip5.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still a traditionalist and find 160\u00baF to be a good temperature to take Pork to.\u00a0 Others may choose to pull it earlier but that just won&#8217;t do in this household.\u00a0 Everyone to his\/her own!\u00a0 Pork Tri-Tip Roast thinly sliced and ready to serve.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip6.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The simple Summer meal Money $Shot$ &#8230;\u00a0 A few slices of Pork Tri-Tip Sirloin Roast and some Corn on the Cob &#8230; I could make a meal of the corn alone.\u00a0 I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful, tender, and moist the roast turned out!!\u00a0 We could have easily added some beans, rice, or potatoes to this meal but it didn&#8217;t appear to need it.\u00a0 Besides, leaves more room for the Frozen Yogurt Dessert.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/BBQ%20Smoke\/Pork\/MAKPorkTriTip08162011\/MAKPorkTriTip7.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the price of everything going up, up, and away I will be searching for more bargain cuts of meats no matter how exotic and\/or strange their names might be.\u00a0 I will definitely be doing Pork Tri-Tip Sirloin Roasts again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No, there is no TYPO!!\u00a0 You read correctly &#8230;
