{"id":1010,"date":"2011-07-21T17:00:29","date_gmt":"2011-07-22T01:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/?p=1010"},"modified":"2011-07-21T17:00:29","modified_gmt":"2011-07-22T01:00:29","slug":"maximising-your-apple-pellets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/maximising-your-apple-pellets\/","title":{"rendered":"Maximizing your Apple BBQ Pellets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Decided to have a light summer dinner consisting of <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Apple<\/a> Smoked Chicken and a Zucchini Casserole using Zucchini Squash from the garden.\u00a0 Since I would be using the same amount of <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Apple<\/a> Pellets in my MAK 2 General Pellet Smoker-Grill to smoke a Spatchcock Chicken or 2 I decided to maximize my <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Apple<\/a> Pellets and smoke 2 Spatchcock Chickens.\u00a0 Never hurts to be frugal!!<\/p>\n<p>Rubbed under and on the skin of the Spatchcocked Chickens with Annies Roasted Garlic <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/roasted-garlic-extra-virgin-olive-oil\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">EVOO<\/a> and also applied a liberal amount of <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Fagundes Seasoning\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/fagundes-seasoning\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Fagundes Seasoning<\/a>.\u00a0 On the right of the chickens you can see the chicken livers and hearts ready to be saut\u00e9d with a bit of garlic.\u00a0 Makes for a great appetizer!<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Chicken\/MAKspatchcock07222011\/Spatchcock1.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>SETPOINT on the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"MAK Grills 2 Star General\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/mak-grills-2-star-general\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">MAK 2 Star<\/a> to SMOKE (180\u00baF) for 2 hours of <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0wood BBQ pellets with the skin side down.\u00a0 Have done skin side up and down but my preference is skin side down.\u00a0 After the 2 hour smoke I bumped the temperature to 325\u00baF until the <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Thermapen Mk4 Thermometer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/thermapen-mk4-thermometer\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Internal Temperature<\/a> at the thickest part of the breast reached 168\u00baF.\u00a0 Rested the Spatchcock Chickens under a foil tent for 20 minutes before serving.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i854.photobucket.com\/albums\/ab105\/papa_peter\/Chicken\/MAKspatchcock07222011\/Spatchcock2.jpg?resize=480%2C360\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Money $Shot$ &#8230; A healthy serving of the Zucchini Casserole with half an <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"CookinPellets Apple Mash\" href=\"https:\/\/www.smokinpetebbq.com\/wordpress\/recommends\/cookinpellets-apple-mash\/\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Apple<\/a> smoked chicken breast &#8230;
