Wood Pellet BBQ Grill Stuffed Bell Peppers

posted in: Beef, Recipes 4

Since a Wood Pellet BBQ Smoker-Grill acts as a convection oven there is no limit of recipes that you can adapt for your Traeger PTG.  This means that anything you can cook in your oven can be perfected for use at home outdoors and on the road camping in your RV.  Bell Peppers stuffed are always a delight on any dinner table and here’s a easy great tasting recipe you can enjoy serving your family.

Ingredients:

  • (4) cored Bell Peppers (reserve the tops for the meat mixture)
  • 1 lb of Hamburger (cooked and drained)
  • Medium Onion (cooked with Hamburger and Bell Pepper tops)
  • 1 cup of cooked rice
  • 14 oz can of Tomato Sauce

Mix all ingredients together and stuff the cored Bell Peppers.  For easy cleanup I like to use aluminum pans (8″ x 4″ x 2½”) to bake the stuffed Peppers.    Each pan hold 2 peppers.  Preheat the Traeger PTG to 350ºF using Hickory Gourmet BBQ Pellets.

Bake the stuffed peppers at 350ºF for 1 – 1¼ hours until all the ingredients are thoroughly cooked and hot.  Allow the peppers to rest for 10 minutes before serving.  Topping the peppers with grated cheese of excess tomato sauce during the last 10 minutes of cooking adds a wonderful touch to the peppers …

I’m smoking the stuffed bell peppers now, however, I used chorizo instead of hamburger. I thought that would add some extra flavor.

Sounds like a tasty choice. Let me know how it turned out. The fun is taking a recipe and tweaking it to make it your own since recipes should not be cast in concrete.

We use wild game meat= Elk, Deer, Antelope, Caribou, Oryx. We rarely eat store bought meat. I substitute the wild game in every recipe and on our Traeger it is absolutely delicious, not dry at all!!!!
