Wood Pellet Grill Hickory Smoked Meatloaf

If you’ve haven’t experienced the exquisite flavors that Hickory smoke adds to your favorite Meatloaf recipe then you don’t know what you’re missing.  Once you start smoking your meatloaves you’ll never cook them in your oven again.  Many recipes call for the use of Ketchup but I’ve always preferred using Tomato Sauce in my Meatloaves.

Meatloaf Recipe:

  • 1 lb Hamburger
  • 1 lb Jimmy Dean’s Pork Sausage
  • 2 eggs
  • Italian Bread Crumbs (± 1 cup as required)
  • Large chopped Red Onion
  • Crushed Garlic, Seasoning & Garlic Salt, Pepper to taste
  • 4 to 6 oz Tomato Sauce (as required)

Mix ingredients using tomato sauce and bread crumbs to achieve proper consistency.  Form mixture into 2 loaves.  Preheat the MAK 2 Star General Wood Pellet BBQ Smoker-Grill with Hickory wood BBQ pellets to 225ºF.  Hickory smoke the meat loaves for 1 hour.

Smoke the meat loaves for an hour before increasing the MAK 2 Star temperature to 350ºF until the internal temperature reaches 160ºF.  Top the meat loaves with some of the remaining tomato sauce and cook them for an additional 10 minutes.  Rest the meat loaves under a foil tent for 15 minutes before serving.

A simple but elegant traditional comfort meal consisting of Hickory smoked Meatloaf slices, mashed potatoes & gravy with a side of corn.
