Stuffed Red Bell Peppers on MAK 2 Star Wood Pellet Smoker-Grill

The tightly digitally controlled cooking temperatures of the MAK 2 Star Wood Pellet BBQ Smoker-Grill allows it to easily function as a Convection Oven fueled with your favorite flavor/brand of BBQ Wood Pellets.  The MAK imparts heat assisted by fans to force air movement.  The air circulation, or convection, tends to eliminate “hot spots” and thus food may bake more evenly.  The MAK 2 Star can Smoke foods at 170ºF, set cooking temperatures in 5 degree increments from 200-450ºF, and achieve High temperatures of 500+ degrees F.

These features allows me to virtually convert any and all recipes for use on my Pellet Smoker-Grill.  Another fine example of this flexibility is how easily I adapted my Stuffed Red Bell Peppers to be baked in the MAK 2 Star.

Here’s an easy recipe for Stuffed Bell Peppers:

  • Core and remove seeds of 4 large Bell Peppers (Green, Yellow, and/or Red) saving the tops for later use in the stuffing
  • 1 Cup cooked Rice
  • Cook 3 finely chopped Celery Stalks, a small Onion, and some Green, Yellow & Red Peppers in Annie’s Roasted Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil for use in stuffing
  • Cook and drain 1 lb of Hamburger
  • 14 oz can or Tomato Sauce
  • Mix stuffing ingredients:  hamburger, rice, celery, onion, peppers, and tomato sauce
  • Season stuffing with salt, pepper, granulated garlic and/or your favorite seasoning
  • Stuff Peppers and top with some shredded Cheese

Preheated the MAK 2 Star to 350ºF using Hickory wood BBQ pellets

Bake Stuffed Peppers for 1 ¼ hours at 350º.  Note the benefits of using Wood Pellets as a fuel source to impart some Hickory Smoked flavor.
